Why should I get my panels cleaned?
  1. Economic benefit – Dirt inhibits the sun’s rays from reaching your solar panels and therefore reducing the amount of power they produce. Clean panels make more money.
  2. Manufacturer’s Warranty – With regular cleaning and inspection of your panels, you are protecting your warranty and is recommended by your manufacturer.
  3. Australian Standards – AS 5033 recommends regular cleaning of your panels.
Will rain clean solar panels?

No. Just like you wouldn’t expect rain to clean your car or windows, rain will not clean your panels.

Can I clean solar panels myself?

Getting up on a roof is not everyone’s idea of fun and can be dangerous. At Western Solar Clean, we love it. We are also professionally trained, accredited and insured using the latest technology in water deionisation to clean your panels.

What is deionised water?

The water from your tap is dirty. Deionised water is filtered to remove all the dirt and produces 0ppm (parts per million) pure water so it won’t leave spotting or streaking.

Do I need to be home?

No. As long as you give us permission to be on your property and have access to your roof and invertor, we can get the job done.

How do I know if I need my panels cleaned?

If you’ve never had your panels cleaned, then your system probably needs a clean and inspection. Unless you can see significant stains such as bird droppings, it might be hard to tell as the dust is even. Just like your car when you wipe your finger over it, you see how dirty it is.

How often should I get my panels cleaned?

Western Solar Clean recommends twice a year. The economic benefit and piece of mind of clean panels far outweighs the cost of a regular clean and inspection maintenance program.

Is it worth getting my panels cleaned in winter?

Absolutely. Naturally your energy output will be lower during winter due to more cloud cover and shorter days. However, Western Australia still produces many sunny days during this time. Your solar panels are the most efficient on cold sunny days, so keeping your panels clean during the shorter winter days is vital to a stronger output.
